The Shack

Have you read it?? I just finished it last night and it is AMAZING.
Seriously....one of those books that will change how you think about God forever. But it's a fictional story...and one that will pull you in - I could hardly put it down and finished it in 2 days. Oh, and it made me cry....and books don't typically have that affect on me. It's just....WOW.

Go buy it, or check it out from the library, or borrow it from a friend straight away.

And if you've already read it.....did you think it was as incredible as I did?

Don't Hit Me

Back to politics for a second....if, like me, you don't understand Sanskrit, then you probably have trouble navigating the truth from the...er..."embellishment" of what is this election's political circus.
Go to CNN's FactCheck.org to get the skinny on what's truth and what's not when McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden open their mouths and speak to the nation/world. It's updated by date/event, so currently there's a lot of McCain/Palin bullcrap at the top of the list because of the recent RNC..but for all you Obama haters out there - just scroll down a bit and you can read some of his flubs as well.
It's an easy site to navigate and I like how it gives you the REAL deal on what their talking about. But I do find it quite sad that it's pretty much a given that politician's are so full of crap that we have to make a website dedicated entirely to sifting through the bull to find out what's truth and what's not.
Seriously....go check it out.

Oh, and if you're feeling link-happy, you can go check out my biz blog because I had a really fun senior session on Saturday/Sunday.

That's it....back to your regular scheduled programming.

You are Most Compatible With....

So...I found this online quiz/html thing that I thought would be fun to imbed in the blog. So I take my blog address, enter it in and then they say that before I can see the results/get the code, I have to sign up to be a member of this site. I consider not doing it, but I have nothing going on for the next 15 minutes so I figured, "what the heck" it can't hurt - right?
Well, weird thing is....it ended up being a singles/online meeting people place thing. So after I sign up and enter in a bunch of false info and get a login, etc. etc. (I'm still looking for the results of that quiz thingy) it posts people who could possibly be good "matches" for me.
And here they are:

pjbb84's photo
57 years old
from Valparaiso
maddcow78's photo
30 years old
from eden prairie
RJK's photo
47 years old
from Clinton Township
crankincraig's photo
42 years old
from upstate ny

crc7310
crc7310's photo
35 years old

juslukinforafriend's photo
50 years old
from Dublin

What the heck?? Either I am an old soul, or 29 is crossing the age barrier, but all the people they think would be good matches for me have a median age of 45!? What the ---?
Although on second hand...juslukinforafriend is from Dublin and it'd be nice to travel....
And what's up with the screen name of pjbb84? Peanutbutter-Jelly bed and breakfast 1984?
The initials of him (Paul Jungo), his dog (Bugsby Bittman) and the last time he went on a date (1984)? Feel free to speculate on that one in the comments....

Thanks, but I'm just fine and dandy with this guy:

Well....you know what I mean.

Back to The Norms....for Awhile

Time for a break from the political garbage for a bit and let's move on to more important things: Me.

Okay, well...not ME per se, but....things revolving around me and my life. That's what we're here for people, right? RIGHT?!

Anyway, a little bragging on the O-Dawg if I may.
The following letter came home from school today:

To the Parents of: Owen Nowack
From: Gifted Education Teacher: Regina Hookidty-Boogity (not her real name)

Your child has been nominated to take screening tests to determine whether or not he/she is eligible for placement in the Gifted Education Program for the upcoming school year. This process may take six to eight weeks.......blah, blah, blah......

So it would appear that even after all my worry and concern, that he's doing just fine. And I'm thrilled to death about it. :)

**chest swelling with pride**

Okay, Just One More....

Okay, I couldn't resist this one:

And then there's THIS, by that guy that Steve-o and I both like a lot....and then there's THIS ONE, which at least made me smile a bit.

Politics Make Me Sick (or, Why I Haven't Voted in a Single Election To Date)

Seriously. Politics make me feel ill.

The fact that I like Obama aside.....the fact that I lean left aside.....at what point do politics become less about defining and trumpeting the qualities and traits of the prospective candidate and MORE about mud-slinging and jabs at the opponents?? This is the part of the political race where I get pretty disgusted and bow out for awhile.

Giuliani's speech tonight at the Republican National Convention seriously revolted me. Slam, slam, slam Obama, he says this, he's an idiot, blah, blah, blah. The "other guys" are incompetent fools if they actually think they can run the country better than US (-->insert snooty chuckle here<----) Democrats do the same - I'm not saying either party is exempt, but damn it gets REALLY OLD. The piety, the elitism, the one-up-ism....Blegh. If there was a presidential candidate who pledged to NOT sling mud, NOT run campaigns AGAINST the opponent, stay indifferent on the actions/stances/beliefs of his opponent.....in other words: take the high ground. Shut their mouth and campaign away to make themselves appeal to the masses as the next president I would vote for them in a heartbeat for that reason alone. Tell me what YOU can do...not the shortcomings (apparent, supposed, actual, whatever) of your opponent.
The rhetoric....the jokes/criticism of the other side ad nauseum.....I'm done with it for awhile.

Lesser of two evils indeed.

Any Truth To This, Do Ya Think?

For all of you who are interested in politics, or lovers of the McCain/Palin duo....do you think THIS article has any truth to it??

Personal Disclaimer: I think that whether the article is true or not doesn't really matter....(except that IF it was true it would make her rather dishonest and of questionable ethics). In regards to her abilities as a leader and potential skills in leading the country though, it doesn't make a difference for the most part. I just wanted to see if you'd heard of it and thought it had any truth to it. End disclaimer.
