These wildfires.....
For anyone who doesn't know, wildfires have been ravaging the western part of the state and in Florida for the last month or so. People's homes and lives have been lost, entire towns have been evacuated, there has been drought for 6 weeks and there are burning bans and water-reduction enforcements even here in Albany.
We're over on the southeastern part of the state and for the last week the air has been filled with a heavy haze, and the pervasive odor of smoke. It burns my eyes. It smells. It clouds up the sun and I just don't like it.
But I like it better than having my home and personal belongings burned to the ground.
So I'm trying to not complain.
And be thankful instead.
Things could be so much worse.
I'm lucky. My family is lucky. (I deter from saying that we're "blessed" because that would imply that those who've lost their homes to fire are NOT blessed, and what does that say?)
And the smokes annoys me, but a little annoyance is better than losing everything I have or being homeless.
Bring on the smoke.
It's a good reminder.
I take too much for granted.

I agree... the smoke is annoying. But good point. I would much rather have the smoke than the fire itself. And hey! Right now, as I am typing its raining... its been about 5 years since it last rained, so I guess its about time huh?
YAY...hooray for the rain!!!!!
Alabama is going thru the worst drought in 50 years??? Our grass is still green but fading quickly.
The smoke was here yesterday morning and it made me cough all day but it wasn't nearly as bad as you guys have it.
We hit the smoke really bad this past weekend traveling to Atlanta.
I'm weird but I like the smell of wildfires. I remember them from Florida.
Count your BLESSINGS you heavenly people :0) and Peace out.
Hey girl! I know what you mean by the smell. Before I left GA it was smokey and smelly! Enough so that they were warning people with asthma not to go outside - know it has to be worse for you. Don't breath deep :-)
