Bits 'n Pieces

A few things floating around my head this afternoon:

*I'm tired.* Haven't been sleeping well the past few weeks. Laying or sitting in the same position for more than an hour gives me terrible lower back/pelvis pain. Not fun. I'm glad I've only got a few more weeks to go.

*It rained ALL DAY yesterday* - Hooray! We really, really needed it.

*My session yesterday was cancelled due to the rain so we redid it this morning. **shhhh** I skipped out on church to do it. Not something I'd like to make a regular habit of, but they needed to do it this weekend. Might get one or two posted tonight for a sneak peek.

*Steve-o has a new best buddy, which I'm glad for. :) And he imposes on said buddy and stays at their house WAY too late at night (think 2am last night for example). Best buddy? Are you out there?? Feel free to kick him out if you feel the need for other things...like, say, sleep.

*I have 2 really really good chick friends in Albany, which is saying something, because I usually don't have a lot of chick friends (too much drama). But these chicks are especially cool and I laugh with both of them and we get along great and drink a lot of coffee and talk about volleyball and husbands and life in general. ONE of my best chick friends moved 2 hours away over the weekend. And I'm really bumm'n about it. :(

*And my other chick friend is in Peru for 2 weeks. I need some coffee and laughs this week....any volunteers??

*Cooper pees and poops on the carpet.
A lot.
I think I am a doggie-potty-training failure. Any tips??

*I'm tired*

I know I said that already, but now I'm going to act on it and go sit on the couch with Owen and watch some Magic School Bus.

Have a great Sunday!

While they are pups, you have to use the outside for one thing, and one thing only. That is the quickest way to house training bliss. Couple that with anticipating when they need to eliminate, and you'll be on the fast track.
So, try not to take them outside and just play for no reason for a while. Try to beat them to the punch when it comes to going out. Use the same door every time when you take him out. Then while outside, watch him like a hawk, and the instant he's done doing whatever he needs to do, love the heck out of him quickly, run him back inside quickly, and give him a treat upon arrival back inside immediately (have treat in your pocket before going out).
This method will teach them that outside is for one thing, and when they do that thing, they get love and approval from you (which they want desperately) and a treat.

Oh honey...you are getting close to the miserable stage, aren't you?

tick tick tick tick....

on the potty training puppy...I have done this suceessfuly 2 outta 3. Do you have a crate? If not, get one and use it religiously. I also used liver treats, which are a little expensive, but you just break them up into littler pieces. Dogs will do ANYTHING for them, so when Cooper does do the deed in the right place, give him a bit of one. ..he'll remember that goodness. I also was a fan of the saying a phrase while trying to get them to go...like "hurry up" or my favorite, "Get going." They hear the phrase enough times when doing it, they go when you say the phrase...classic conditioning.

For the spots, get an enzymatic cleaner that with literally eat the smell of it...carpet is a real favorite of dogs because it's so absorbent and you can't really get it all clean so they can easily return to the same spot. The enzymatic cleaner will take away even his ability to return to it. Just stay away from anything with amonia because it smells the same as pee to him.

Yeah, I say all this while cleaning up dog pee...how the heck was I to know that large breed females which are spayed before their first heat tend to develop hormonal imbalances that render their sphincter's ineffective, causing them to leak urine while sleeping...that's right I said it...sphincter!

Hang in there. Wish we could do coffee.

oh, huh...A, that's a good idea too....
