Us too!!!

When going to New York has been mentioned, I always said, "We haven't lost anything up there, there's no need for us to go."

To visit friends, I can't think of a better reason! Maybe the family will get their New York trip after all.

The only good thing about moving to NY is the hope that friends will visit and really good pizza.

I'm really behind; just opened my email for the first time this week.

I'm thinking of "skipping email".

We're NOT skipping Christmas, it's the one time of year that we truly splurge on our kids and I feel that we can do that AND all the other things AND not forget the real meaning of Christmas; at the same time, I totally understand your decision and we've debated the same thing before.

To each his own, I guess.

The consumerism of Easter is what "chaps my hide", although I guess that the two holidays are intimately connected really.

One of our traditions is that each year or so I buy a Nativity set that the kids can actually play with. When they were young, they so loved all the little figures and I tried to teach them to be careful but they broke some pieces. Instead of freaking out, I went out and found a Nativity set they could play with. Now, we have three or four. They're not easy to come by. My favorite is VeggieTales nativity.

Polar Express and Christmas Vacation movies are a long-standing traditon, as well (no, the kids do NOT watch the unedited version of vacation).

Have you read John Grisham's book, "Skipping Christmas"? You have to, now.

Tyler had me cracking up with his faces and intense eyes.
