When I saw this on the news this morning, my first thought was how many people here have wanted to do that & my second was -- I thought it took the Secret Service people longer to get there than I would have thought!
If you watch closely, someone is pulling the guy down just as he throws the second shoe. Count from the time of the first shoe until the guy is being pulled down... about 2 seconds... that's PDQ!
I thought the same thing and I watched it three times to see where the heck the Secret Service were. I thought it was also interesting that President Bush stood back up to face the second shoe; he didn't cower behind the podium - I think I would have stayed down...just in case. Don't they teach them that?
That's true Clint, but what I was watching was nobody "threw" themselves over the President to protect him - they took the guy down, but I would have thought at that point they would have covered the President. While they were taking the guy down, the Pres was still standing. Maybe I've watching too many movies :-)
hey all those people were "screened" on the way in... probably thought they had it under control. Where's Dan's take on the reaction time?????? Cmon we need expert analysis here.
A heel for a heel! I heard on the news today that there are so many people who hate President Bush that the security protecting him is going to be increased for as long as he lives. What does this mean to us? Higher taxes to pay for his protection. I could type more...but I am keeping mum incase big brother is watching. Harumph!

I had the same thought about the secret service. I can't believe they didn't get to the guy before the second shoe was thrown!
