Last Night's Viewings
So, the church that I attend made this movie last year called Facing the Giants, which ended up being a pretty big deal I guess, as far as "Christian" movies go. I was out of town when the church members got to see the first screening, and out of town again when it opened in theaters. Having two kids, my nights out are few and far between, so Facing the Giants wasn't exactly top of my priority list for it's run through local theaters.
Apparently, I was the only person in the entire church of about 2000 people on Sunday who hasn't seen the movie. I almost felt a little guilty, but not really.
Anyway, it came out on DVD yesterday, so I rented it and finally got around to watching it last night.
You can watch it yourself to see what you think. Here's some good reviews on it, and just for the sake of being unbiased, here's what some people had to say who didn't like it.
It was fun to see people from our church, and kids from the school in the movie. Even Casey was in it. a little. Hey, can I have your autograph "student walking in hallway" and "fan cheering in crowd"?? :)
So....I watched Facing the Giants while Steve played with the kids and put them to bed after dinner. Then we watched a documentary called Jesus Camp. It was everything I thought it would be, but at times still shocking. If you're a believer, watch it - tell me what you think. If you're NOT a believer, then watch it, and understand that not all Christians are freaky-deaky indoctrinators who train up their children to be conservative pro-war, pro-violence, pro-Bush, pro-radicalism that are trying to take over the country and the White House. Ahem. And that's all I have to say about that, as this is a public blog and I don't like to delve too much into political/religious/social science topics. Don't want to get myself in trouble. Mixed reviews on the movie can be found here.
Maybe I should start a secret blog somewhere else with my opinions on that matter. :) If you want the secret address, please submit your name and application and upon approval, I will send you the blog address. Just kidding. I'm really not going to do that, so don't ask. :)
So that was our night in movies last night. Watch 'em - tell me what you think.
Next on my list, is Who Killed The Electric Car?, a documentary about...well, what the title says. I'm in a bit of documentary craze lately - mostly with political undertones. Does that make me weird? Wait...don't answer that.
