Still Pond

Thursday Steve-o took the day off and we headed out to Still Pond winery outside of Albany. We took a tour and learned how wine is made...

The still pond of Still Pond Winery. The woman who ran the winery (I think her name was Susan, but i can't remember) said that during the civil war, Confederate Soldiers would sit around the pond and brew peach beer. The winery has been in her family for years....

The squisher thing that smashed all the grapes and funnels them indoors to be made into wine.
Muscadine grapes...which are really quite yummy.

She gave each of the kids a bag and gave them some grapes to take home.

Dinner Chefs

After bowling, we went home and had the kids make their own pizzas. A fun (albeit messy) way to entertain five young kids for about 45 minutes. A package of frozen bread dough, cut it into several small pieces and lay out bowls of pizza toppings.

Owen digs the pizza guys at Mellow Mushroom and decides to toss his dough around to stretch it out...

Great idea! Everyone gives it a try....

Sometimes ya just gotta smash it with your elbow....

What to do in Albany??

Well, lemme just tell ya.
My family was here for a week and I think we did a pretty good job of keeping occupied...considering the city we had to work with.
We went swimming, we painted stuff at the ClaySpot, we went to SCA Volleyball matches, Steve-0, Rob, and Johnny went to the SCA football game on Friday night, and a few other things...prepare for an onslaught of pictures.

Wednesday, Rob asked my niece Abby what she wanted to do that day and she firmly said, "bowling". Owen and AJ have never been bowling and they had SO much fun. AJ would scream and jump up and down in celebration every single time he knocked down a pin. It was a lot of fun to watch the kids...good idea Abby! :)

Here's O and A scoping out the lanes. I thought their little bowling shoes were so cute. :)

kenny was our #1 cheerleader. This kid is always smiling. :)

AJ screaming in excitement. He was so funny to watch....

Call the American Bowling League...it's a pro in the making....

Robby's intent on beating his dad....

Amanda & Abby join in AJ's excitement...

Rob gets a strike....or four....

Johnny gearing up to push the ball down the ramp....
All the kids (except Kenny)...

6 Weeks Later...

Had my 6 week postpartum checkup this past week.

I weigh less than i feared, but still too much. Planning on getting back to the gym this next week.

Asked the doctor if I would have to have a c-section for my next(last) kid and he said for sure - 2 C-sections and it's a done deal that you're a c-sectioner for life. bummer.

Got a prescription for birth control pills. Dropped it off and picked up at Walgreens a few hours later. Opened the package and looked at them. Noticed that it's the same brand i had in 2002. The ones that I got pregnant with Owen with.

The Flight Attendant

My MIL sent me this forward today and I thought it was funny enough to be blog-worthy.

My flight was being served by an obviously gay flight attendant, who
seemed to put everyone in a good mood as he served us food and drinks.
As the plane prepared to descend, he came swishing down the aisle and
told us that "Captain Marvey has asked me to announce that he'll be landing the big scary plane shortly, so lovely people, if you could just put your trays
up, that would be super." On his trip back up the aisle, he noticed this well-dressed and rather Arabic looking woman hadn't moved a muscle.

"Perhaps you didn't hear me over those big brute engines honey, but I asked you
to raise your trays, so the main man can pitty-pat us down to the ground."

She calmly turned her head and said, "In my country, I am called a
Princess and I take orders from no one."
To which (I swear) the flight attendant replied, without missing abeat, "Well, sweet-cheeks, in my country I'm called a Queen, so I outrank you. Tray-up, Bitch."
